| fume scrubbers > venturi fume scrubbers Based on decades of practical experience, we are able to supply a range of Venturi scrubber designs for use where very small (1-5m) or sub-microns (0.05-0.9m) particulate must be removed from the air stream. High pressure drops (1Kpa-12.5Kpa) are required and the smaller the particulate the higher the pressure drop. Processes which would employ this type of scrubber are those where condensation of liquids or metallic vapours occur or when chemical reactions result in the formation of a fine fume such as ammonium chloride. Operating Principles A number of mechanisms have been described to explain the operating principles of the venturi scrubber. These are concerned with accelerating the gas an liquid streams through the venturi throat, causing the particulates and scrubbing liquor to agglomerate into droplets of sufficient size to be separated from the stream with a conventional separator. A venturi
scrubber consists of an external venture section through which the contaminated
air stream is accelerated and mixed with the scrubbing liquor, and a separator
where removal of the agglomerated particles takes place. The major advantage
of this type of unit is its simplicity with no internal devices that can
