Testing and Maintenance

APMG provides a testing and maintenance service to fume cupboard users throughout the UK. This service applies to ducted fume cupboards from APMG and other manufacturers. COSHH requires that fume cupboards are tested every 14 months. We offer a 12 monthly check that is suitable for most users and an additional 6 monthly check for fume cupboards that are heavily used.

Six Monthly:

• Take face velocity readings
• Check worktop seals
• Inspect sash mechanism for corrosion and damage
• Inspect fans, motors, drives and bearings are correct running
• Provide Report / Recommendations

Twelve Monthly:

• Take face velocity readings
• Check worktop seals
• Inspect sash mechanism for corrosion and damage
• Inspect fans, motors, drives and bearings are correct running
• Check spray/water wash system in fume cupboard and ductwork if fitted
• Check condition of services and controls including alarms
• Check function of sash stop
• Check fire damper and release mechanism
• Check extract fan motors for worn bearings, excessive noise. Check pulleys are tight and correctly aligned
• Check fan impellers for wear and corrosion
• Check condition of flexible connections
• Check stability and condition of discharge stack
• Inspect condition of extract ducting and joints
• Check need for cleaning inside ductwork through access ports if fitted
• Provide Report / Recommendations
