Fume Cupboards for Hazardous Materials

We offer specially designed fume cupboards for handling Radio-Active materials, Perchloric Acid and Hydrofluoric Acid.

For Radio-Active isotopes we manufacture a polished one piece stainless steel chamber with a reinforced base to enable the use of a protective lead shield. The chamber is manufactured with fully radiused corners to provide an easy to clean surface for though decontamination.

When working with Perchloric Acid it is essential that the fume cupboard is fitted with a scrubbing system to prevent the build up of Perchlorates within the extract system. Our design incorporates an integral deep bed packed tower mounted behind the fume cupboard, complete with scrubbing liquor re-circulation tank, pump, pipe work and valves mounted beneath the fume cupboard chamber. A fully automatic caustic dosing system is available as an option.

A fume scrubber should also be considered on applications where significant volumes of acid fumes are to be discharged such as acid digestions. Fuming nitric acid and Hydrofluoric acid are also deserving of special attention.

Applications of this type need special consideration and appropriate equipment specified. APMG's engineers are able to offer advice on what special systems are required to achieve an acceptable level of abatement.
